LAHORE (92 News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday sought a reply from the Federal and Punjab government in the plea demanding nullification of the Defamation Act.

The court also sought the reply from the parties concerned in the petition seeking stay order for suspension of the Defamation Act.

The court observed that how a law can exist if its frame is faulty. “What was the emergency that the acting governor signed it if it was to be formed after 20 days?”

Khawaja Tariq Rahim, counsel for Lahore Press Club president Arshad Ansari, said that the tribunal had no judicial powers. “The entire proceedings of the tribunal is in clash with the constitution,” he added.
