Mahmood Achakzai felicitates Asif Zardari on his election as president

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Mahmood Khan Achakzai, a candidate of the Sunni Ittehad Council in the presidential election has congratulated President-elect Asif Zardari.

Talking to the media after the election, he said that it was the first time when neither the vote has been sold nor it has been bought. "A clear division has emerged, which is a good sign," he added.

Achakzai said that several people had told him to vote for him, but order was to vote for another candidate. "Dr Maalik also told me that he would vote for me. I don't know why he slipped afterwards. People voted for a party and it has to be accepted," he maintained.

He said that 90 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had voted for him.
