NAB challenges Nawaz Sharif’s acquittal in Flagship reference

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the acquittal of Nawaz Sharif in the Flagship reference. It stated that tangible proofs of Nawaz Sharif’s corruption were provided in the Flagship reference. “It is against law to acquit Nawaz Sharif by giving him the benefit of doubt. The court should sentence Nawaz Sharif on the basis of evidence against him,” it contended. The petition further stated that the NAB had proved the case against Nawaz Sharif and on proving corruption, the sentence is 14 years under the NAB Ordinance. It prayed to the court to nullify the verdict acquitting Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz given 7-year sentence in Al-Azizia, acquitted in Flagship reference Moreover, the NAB has also filed a petition seeking an increase in the sentence of Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference. Detailed judgement of Al-Azizia and Flagship references On the other hand, former premier Nawaz Sharif has filed an application seeking his bail till the verdict on the main appeal. However, the IHC Registrar Office returned the petition with the objection. The petition is likely to be filed on Thursday. The filed appeals will be allotted diary number on Thursday. Then the appeals will be fixed for hearing.
