Nishwa case: City court cancels bail plea of two suspects
KARACHI (92 News) – A city court in Karachi on Friday dismissed bail plea of two suspects involved in a case related to the death of minor girl Nishwa who was administered a wrong injection at Karachi’s Darul Sehat Hospital.
As per details garnered, suspects including Dr Attia and Sharjeel escaped from the court after the cancellation of their bails. Both the suspects have already taken the interim bail from the high court.
Earlier, the court had sent five suspects to jail on judicial remand.
On April 23, Nishwa passed away at Liaquat National Hospital during treatment. Police had arrested midwife Sobia over irresponsibility after a male nurse, who was already in police custody, took her name.
Accused Sobia had filled the injections which had no labeling and gave it to male nurse Agha Moeez. Midwife Sobia has been sent to jail while other accused have also been handed over to police on a three-day remand.
Nishwa’s death: Darul Sehat Hospital partially sealed
Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) sealed the Out Patient Department (OPD), Emergency and many other department of Darul Sehat over death of nine-month-old Nishwa.
On Wednesday late night, SHCC chairman Dr Tipu Sultan said that the ICU and CCU wards, however, are still open and the treatment for patients will continue.
Dr Sultan also said that according to the law, providing health facilities to the patients in the hospital is compulsory, adding that the hospital administration should provide healthcare facilities to the patients.
He informed that more than 50 patients including women, men and children were still being treated in various wards of the hospital.
It was reported that the SHCC directed the Darul Shehat admin to shift the under treatment patients to another hospital within 48 hours.
