NAB's only objective is to defame politicians: Khaqan Abbasi
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the only objective of the NAB is to defame politicians and level baseless allegations against them.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, the former prime minister said, “How can the country be run if politicians are always targeted. The NAB chairman has no right to insult politicians. The character assassination campaign must stop now.”
Khaqan Abbasi said, “The economy is in tatters and a big share of responsibility for it rests with the NAB.”
The PML-N leader said that this will be started on Youm-e-Takbir from Islamabad and Maryam Nawaz would address in public rally in the federal capital.
He announced to launch a country-wide campaign after Eidul Fitr against rampant inflation and unemployment by connecting with people. “We will tell the people on Youm-e-Takbir that [former PM] Nawaz Sharif is a political prisoner,” he added.
PML-N raises questions over NAB chairman’s integrity
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi raised objections over the integrity of Javed Iqbal in light of his recent comments in an interview given to a journalist. He said that NAB is no more neutral department, clarifying that Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has never met Justice Javed. “NAB chairman‘s claim of being offered bribe was not true,” he added. A day earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has decided to launch the anti-government campaign.
Speaking to the journalists after a party meeting at the Parliament House along with other PML-N leaders, former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced to stage a protest across country during different phases.
