Opposition agrees to form joint strategy about national issues
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition parties have agreed to form a special committee to evolve a joint strategy about important national issues in and outside the parliament.
The decision was taken at a meeting of opposition leaders at the Parliament’s House on Tuesday. A meeting of the opposition leaders took place today under the chair of Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.
The committee includes Syed Khursheed Shah and Sherry Rehman of PPP; Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah and Marriyum Aurangzeb of PML (N); Amir Haider Hoti of Awami National Party, Maulana Abdul Wase of MMA and Akhtar Mengal of BNP.
Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PPP senior leader Naveed Qamar also attended the meeting.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Asadur Rehman, Awami National Party’s Amir Haider Khan Hoti and other opposition leaders were in attendance at the meeting in Shehbaz’s chambers.
During the meeting, the opposition parties discussed the matters related to extension of the military courts, hard stance against the incumbent government and formulating the future strategy. The opposition parties also decided to jointly endeavor towards protection of democratic, economic and human rights of the people.
