Opposition parties lodge protest against alleged rigging in Sindh

KARACHI (92 News) - The opposition parties staged a protest against alleged rigging at different places in Sindh on Saturday.

The JUI took out a rally against on Shahra-e-Faisal. The protesting workers and the police scuffled with each other. The police tear-gassed the workers who turned violent after being stopped. The protesters pelted the police vans with stones.

The police also arrested some workers. Addressing the rally, JUI leader Rashid Soomro said that they are peaceful people and it should not be considered their weakness.

JUI spokesman Aslam Ghauri said that the PPP leaders should unleash the cruelty to the extent that they could bear tomorrow. "The dictatorial period is being reminded today."

On the other hand, the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also staged a sit-in outside the Karachi Press Club. According to the authorities, the section 144 has been imposed in the Red Zone and there is a complete ban on rallies and protest.

Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that a fake leadership rjected the people had been made to sit in the assembly. "The squatters belonging to the PPP and the MQM have no link with the masses. We will get back our right from them," he added.

GDA leader Safdar Abbas said that hundreds of workers have been jailed to administer the oath to the fake assembly. "This fake system cannot work out and our struggle will not end," he declared.

Owing to the protest, traffic remained suspended on main roads.
