Opposition seeks full disclosure of IMF bailout plan

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) demanded that the federal government should disclosure the details of agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). PPP senior leader Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that the conditions of loans with IMF should be presented in the parliament. Nafeesa Shah termed that the deal with IMF means this time the budget will be from the IMF headquarters, adding that the people should brace themselves for a Tsunami of inflation. Responding to the deal with IMF, orovincial minister Nasir Hussain shah said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) considered IMF as ‘churail’ but now seems to be like ‘Miss World’. Opposition leader in Senate Sherry Rehman said that the details of the government’s deal with the IMF should be presented before the parliament. The opposition leader said that the deal with the international financial body should not be kept hidden and the conditions behind the agreement should be revealed. Reacting to the PTI government approaching the IMF for a bailout package, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that this ‘incompetent government’ was betraying the nation and had already finalized the IMF deal. “Why is the false government hiding the terms of the agreement with the IMF?,” she questioned. She said that the incompetent government is putting the entire weight of its incompetence on the people.” The PML-N leader said the IMF package would bring a new tsunami of inflation for the people. “The nation should be told how much have prices for gas, electricity and essential items been increased in the IMF bailout package.”
