Over 100 shops gutted as fire engulfs electronics market in Peshawar

PESHAWAR (92 News) - Over 100 shops were gutted when huge fire engulfed a mobile and electronics market in Peshawar on Monday.

According to preliminary reports, the fire erupted due to short-circuit and eruption of mobile batteries. There are over 200 shops in the two-storey market.

About 20 fire fighting vehicles controlled the fire after hectic efforts for six hours. Officials of the Pak Army and PAF also took part in the rescue activities.

The Peshawar Corps commander visited the site and monitored the rescue activities. The cooling process is underway and adjacent buildings have been got vacated.

On the other hand, two people were injured in an explosion due to the gas leakage in a house.
