Pakistan Navy celebrates 54th anniversary of Defence Day
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Navy on Friday celebrated 54th anniversary of Defence Day of Pakistan with due solemnity and reverence.
A special ceremony was held at Islamabad Naval Headquarter's of Pakistan Navy to tribute the martyrs and Ghazis who sacrificed their lives for the sake of motherland.
Vice-Admiral Kaleem Shaukat was the chief guest of the ceremony. He laid the floral wreath at the martyrs monument and offered prayers for the martyrs.
On the other hand, Defence Day ceremony held at Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed’s tomb.
A ceremony was held at the tomb of Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed in Lahore where his sister and son were also present. The war hero was martyred during the 1971 war.
Today, the nation is observing Defence Day and Kashmir Solidarity Day with national fervor.
Marking the 54th anniversary of the 1965 Pakistan-India war, the martyrs and ghazis are being tribute. The nation is also reaffirming commitment to defend the motherland against all threats.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation foiled nefarious designs of the enemy in 1965 on this day.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in the all provincial capitals. Special prayers were also offered after Fajr prayers for the independence of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) as well as for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
