PM Shehbaz lands in US today to attend 79th UNGA session

LONDON (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will arrive in the United States (US) on Monday (today) to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.

He is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Friday.

In his address, he will highlight Pakistan’s perspective on a range of international and regional issues of concern, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the Palestine issue.

He will reaffirm Pakistan’s support for multilateralism and highlight the UN role in fostering global peace, security, and prosperity.

The prime minister is also scheduled to attend several high-level meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA session.

These meetings will include discussions on existential threats posed by rising sea levels and the UN Security Council’s open debate on “Leadership for Peace”.

The prime minister will also hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders, and he will also call on the UN secretary general.

It is to be noted here that over 130 heads of states from across the world will attend the high-level 79th UNGA session.

The general debate of the 79th UNGA session will open on Tuesday and conclude on September 30.

The theme for the general debate of the 79th session of the General Assembly is "Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations".
