NSC meeting underway to review IoK situation

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan is presiding over a  meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) to discuss deteriorated situation of the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK). The prime minister had called a high level meeting after India abrogated special status of Occupied Kashmir by scrapping articles 35A and 370 of the constitution. The country’s top civil and military leadership will attend the meeting for the second time in a week to discuss the prevailing situation in IoK. Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the NSC meeting. The meeting will be briefed about the measures taken by the federal government to deal with the Indian move about revoking Kashmir’s special status. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s contacts with the world leaders would also be discussed in the meeting. Meanwhile, the federal cabinet meeting scheduled on Wednesday has been postponed owing to the NSC meeting. However, the cabinet meeting would he held on August 9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX6dvud0exE On August 4, Pakistan has decided to effectively respond to any type of aggression or provocation from India with its people’s support during the National Security Council’s (NSC) meeting  under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan. According to the declaration after NSC meeting, a strategy to effectively respond to provocation by India was readied during the NSC meeting, a notification said, as security situation of the country was assessed. A briefing on the situation in Indian-held Jammu Kashmir was given during the NSC meeting, which was attended by Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Naval Chief Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Air Chief Zafar Chaudhry and DG-ISI Lieutenant-General Faiz Hameed. Defence Minister, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Interior Minister Ijaz Shah, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, Special Assistant of Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and other senior officials were also present in the meeting. The notifications stated that the heightening tensions following the deteriorating situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) were pondered upon during the meeting, with the NSC stating that India’s actions in the region were contributing to worsening the conditions. India’s motives have been revealed in terms of internal and foreign affairs and a panicked New Delhi may come up with dangerous options to hide its failures, the notification said. India is also targeting civilians areas with cluster bombs to provoke Pakistan, it added, noting that Islamabad would always stand strong with the Kashmiri people and would never leave them alone. Pakistan desires that the Kashmir issue be resolved in accordance with the United Nations (UN) resolutions, as well as the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
