ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The vote counting started after the polling ended for the Senate by-election for six vacant seats.

The lawmakers cast their votes until 4pm. For the Islamabad seat, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani of the PPP and Chaudhary Ilyas Meharban are in the race.

From Sindh, PPP's Jam Saifullah Khan and Muhammad Aslam Abro are facing SIC's Nazirullah and Shazia Sohail respectively.

A tough contest is likely among seven candidates for three seats of Balochistan.

Six seats became vacant, comprising one in Islamabad, two in Sindh, and three in Balochistan, due to Senate members being elected to other legislative bodies.
