President Alvi casts vote on his own vacated seat in DHA Phase-II

KARACHI (92 News) – President Dr Arif Alvi, who is a registered voter of the NA-247 constituency, polled vote his own vacated at a polling station set up in the Model School in DHA Phase-II. On the other hand, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail cast his ballot at the Women College in Phase-VIII. Polling for National Assembly seat, NA-247, Sindh Assembly seat, PS-111 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat PK-71, got underway. The voting process in these constituencies started at 8:00am and will continue until 5:00pm without any break. According to ECP, a total of 546,451 voters are registered in NA-247 and 178,965 voters in PS-111. Twelve candidates are competing in the electoral battle for the NA-247 seat while eleven are contesting for the Sindh Assembly seat. The NA seat was vacated by Dr Arif Alvi after his election to the office of President of Pakistan, while PS-111 was vacated by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail. PTI’s Aftab Hussain Siddiqui, PSP’s Arshad Vohra, MQM-P’s Sadiq Iftikhar and PPP’s Qaiser Khan Nizamani are notable among candidates in the run for NA-24, while the PTI’s Shehzad Qureshi, MQM-P’s Jehanzeb Mughal, PML-N’s Mohammad Zahid Hussain and civil society activist Muhammad Jibran Nasir are among those vying for PS-111. The PK-71 fell vacant after Shah Farman was appointed as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There are 133,451 registered voters in the PK-71 constituency. PTI’s Zulfiqar Khan, ANP’s Salahuddin, and independent candidates Dildar Khan, Abdul Karim Khan and Fazle Haq Kohi Damani are in the run for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat.
