Renowned actor Abid Ali passes away at 67

KARACHI (92 News) – Renowned actor Abid Ali passed away after a protracted illness on Thursday. He was 67. His funeral prayers will be offered at Ayesha Mosque, Baharia Town after Friday prayers. He was being treated at a private hospital in Karachi. His wife Rabia Naureen told 92 News that Abid Ali’s disease had deteriorated and he had been on ventilator for last several days. Abid Ali was born in Quetta in 1952. He worked as an actor, director and producer besides acting in several TV and film productions. Abid Ali started his career as an actor with the PTV drama 'Jhok Sial' in 1973. But he was perhaps best known for his role as 'Dilawar Khan' in 'Waris', the classic 1979 PTV drama serial. He was the director and producer of 'Dasht', a 1993 hit drama in which he also played the role of 'Shams Shah'. Abid Ali is the recipient of the prestigious Pride of Performance. He has three daughters, including renowned model Iman Aly and singer Rahma Ali. President Dr Arif Alvi has expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for him. He acknowledged the decade-long career of Abid Ali, saying his services will be remembered for long. Meanwhile, NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Governor Imran Ismail and Dr Farooq Sattar have expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Abid Ali.
