ISLAMABAD (92 News) - A petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against PTI information secretary Rauf Hassan and spokesman Shoaib Shaheen was filed in the Supreme Court for scandalizing the judiciary and the judges.

The PTI leaders have been made the party in the petition filed by Mian Dawood advocate on Tuesday. The transcripts of the contemptuous interviews of Rauf Hassan and Shoaib Shaheen have also been attached to the application.

The petitioner contended that the PTI is scandalizing the judiciary under a planned campaign. “Rauf Hassan and Shoaib Shaheen are scandalizing the judges under a criminal plan. They also used indecent language against Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. Calling the IHC CJ a tout by Rauf Hassan amounts to scandalizing the judiciary,” he added.

He said that Rauf Hassan had also scandalized the Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa by making baseless allegations against him. “The statements of both PTI leaders are in violation of the Article 204 of the Constitution. The PTI is destroying public's confidence in the judiciary under a criminal plan. The SC did not proceed against the PTI founder contempt of court. The PTI was encouraged to make insulting statements by not taking action against the PTI founder. Had the Supreme Court sentenced the PTI founder in the contempt of court case, this would have not happened today. In the past, the Supreme Court had sentenced politicians for scandalizing the judges,” he maintained.

The petitioner appealed to the court to start contempt of court proceedings against Rauf Hassan and Shoaib Shaheen in the light of the Supreme Court judgments.
