Sindh presents over Rs3 trillion budget, raises salaries of govt employee by 22-30%

KARACHI (92 News) - The Sindh government presented over Rs3 trillion budget, increasing the salaries of the government employees by 22-30 percent.

Presenting the budget for FY2024-25 on Friday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that pension had been increased by 15 percent. “Minimum monthly wages have been fixed at Rs37,000. An amount of Rs8 billion has been earmarked for the Hari Card, while Rs5 billion has been fixed for the Labour Card,” he added.

The CM said that it had been proposed in the budget to increase the tax rate from Rs5,000 to Rs20,000. “There is also a proposal to fix the vehicle transfer fee from Rs500 to Rs5,000,” he added.

He said that Rs10 billion had been allocated to provide clean drinking water to each citizen. “A sum of Rs25 billion has been allocated to start a solar scheme for 2.6 million off-grid consumers.”

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the first phase of Malir Expressway will be completed this year. “A hefty amount of Rs116 billion has been allocated for giving subsidies to the people,” he added. He said that funds have been allocated first time for Rs485 police stations.

During the budget speech, the opposition did not lodge the protest.
